David Reece and Ian Glendinning attended the public meeting at the old school on Wedesday 26th Jan. The college has ambitious plans for 2011 celebrations, as well as to mark the occasion permanently. The plans & hopes include:
Events during the year are being organised in collaboration with local businesses, Guisborough Priory, Gisborough Hall, Lord Gisborough, Teesside University, as well other schools, local authorities and old student and staff volunteers. These include:

David, Duncan and Ian are continuing to work with the college and the Old Guisborians on long term Alumni arrangements. We’ll share any news; conversely, if you have any wishes or suggestions, let us know. We have set up a dummy web-page for Old Guisborians generally, should there be any demand to take it anywhere.
Sad news to report, since our reunion late last year, that Chris Mace has passed away. You may be interested to see what some of his peers had to say about him in the obituaries.
Duncan has created a new GGS72PPC74 FaceBook Group for us.
Note also, that as part of arranging the 450th Anniversary Celebration events, there is a public meeting at the college, next week Wed 26th Jan, 6:30pm.
Photos from the reunion at Guisborough Cricket Club on 9th October 2010 have now been uploaded to the Gallery. (So far that includes those from Dave Brand and some from Duncan Goodwin. The captioning is incomplete. There are still some to come from Alan Radford and anyone else who has any to share ?)
Our new photo-gallery now contains all available archive photos and the reunion photos from 2002. There is a permanent gallery link in the header above.
We have just the one photo from the recent 2010 college visit so far and the captioning and tagging is generally incomplete at the moment. Let’s have all the additional photos you have, and we can share them via the gallery.

A few years after the 2002 reunion, it seemed like an idea to hold another. 35 years (2007 or 2009) was a target, but it didn’t happen. However in the last year Duncan Goodwin’s detective work expanded his list of known contacts and whereabouts to around 120 of us (! the whole school was only about 350 people in our day).
Coincidentally it turned out that this academic year 2010/11 is the 450th since the foundation of GGS in 1561, and the college has some plans in progress to mark the occasion. By the day of the reunion we had 55 ex-students including 15 of the girls lined up to attend, along with another dozen staff invited. (Duncan will update us on the actual attendance.)
Look out for other news from the college, PPC Alumni and Old Guisborians concerning the 450th anniversary of the school.
Colin Dodd had a set of photos from our first ever full reunion in 2002, so we created a little web site to publish them.
[Post Note - this was a basic manual site with an early comment facility. The site is preserved but sadly, the comments are lost. The original photos are all moved over to the new gallery here.]
29th June 2002 we had our first reunion in Guisborough. Nothing special about the date, but after a couple of earlier mini-reunions in London, where the possibility of a reunion arose, Martin Goodwill and Duncan Goodwin succeeded in getting 48 of us in one place, plus 6 original staff.
